Boyzone singer Stephen Gately 33 died of unknown causes in his sleep on Saturday (October 10) in a hotel room in Majorca while on vacation.

The 33-year-old went to sleep after a night out but failed to wake up, according to the newspaper News of the World.

“We’re all absolutely devastated,” Boyzone manager Louis Walsh told News of the World. “I’m in complete shock. I was only with him on Monday at an awards ceremony. We don’t know much about what’s happened yet. I only heard after The X Factor and we will rally around each other this week. He was a great man.”

He last posted a message on his Twitter page on October 6, writing: "Still busy - lots going on. Focussing on finishing my book next so may be quiet here."

A spokesman for Boyzone has confirmed the death but details are yet to emerge.

[Nalilito, perplexed, don't know where to go]

The [Pepeng Saga] continues and wreaked havoc on Northern Luzon provinces for almost a week now, from October 3 onwards. With our poor warning system, PAGASA predicts only wind velocity and not rainfall causing yet another thousand of damages and 23 deaths [as of this writing].

“Widespread flooding and landslides have isolated major population centers in northern Luzon, including Baguio, delaying outside help and forcing officials to rely on local resources to rescue and evacuate tens of thousands, many of whom were caught by surprise by the rapidly rising water.” – GMA News

GLOBE: No special dialing procedure will be required to avail of the PHP3.00 per minute rate. Dial directly as you would.

ABS-CBN News
Globe Telecom Inc. will reduce its rates for domestic mobile voice calls on Saturday as it prepares for the onslaught of super typhoon "Pepeng" (international code name Parma).  Globe and Touch Mobile (TM) subscribers can call their fellow users at P3 per minute starting 12:01 a.m. on Saturday until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, October 4.

"With the rising sea levels and more extreme weather events on the horizon, the Dutch are building houses modeled after arks. These houses become buoyant during floods."

I saw it first time in Discovery Channel and recall that I was really surprised to see tug boats pulling homes and floating homes fully built. When the river floods, the house becomes buoyant. Unlike a boat or an ark, two broad steel posts driven deep into solid ground hold the house in place.

In the past weeks [and until now] our country has been a typhoon magnet causing heavy rains and flashfloods. This design will be an impressive start to prevent hundreds of houses in the metros from sinking and hundreds  of people from drowning.

The disaster brought by Tropical Storm Ketsana or Typhoon "Ondoy" in the Philippines was so depressing. One of the many proofs that there is no one exceptional when the fury of Mother Nature hits. For those who do not know, Christine Reyes is a known Filipina actress who has starred the reality TV show Starstruck. She is best known on television shows such as Banana Split, Kahit Isang Saglit and Eva Fonda. In the picture, the actress is stranded in her home and she ended up staying on the roof. It took a while before she was rescued.

GMA News described “Ondoy” [the typhoon] [international code name Ketsana] as an Epic Flood in Metro Manila caused by record rainfall. “The rainfall brought by typhoon "Ondoy" to Metro Manila and nearby areas in a span of six hours on Saturday was the most in recorded history, surpassing the previous record for the metropolis in 1967”.

The incessant downpour brought by tropical storm has turned several parts of Metro Manila into a virtual water world.
