Episode Description
When Senor Chang assigns an absurd amount of homework to his Spanish class the gang nominates Jeff to talk some sense into him. Jeff begrudgingly agrees and the two strike up an unlikely friendship which backfires when the gang realizes Jeff is receiving perks that they aren't. Meanwhile, Troy and Abed run into their own problems when their biology lab subject goes missing.

Professor Whitman and Dean Pelton convince Jeff to join the debate team after Annie's partner drops out right before the championship debate versus City College. Community Season 1 Episode 1 "Pilot"
Jeff goes back to community college after he's prevented from practicing law. A former client of his, Ian, is an administrator at the college, and Jeff bribes him to get answers to all of his tests. Jeff meets Britta and passes himself off as a Spanish tutor as an excuse to spend time with her, but is foiled when she invites Abed (who invites the rest of the group). Jeff causes tension in the group to get Britta alone, but Britta convinces him to fix it again; after Jeff leaves the group, he finds that the packet of test answers is empty. The rest of the group falls apart in Jeff's absence, and they invite him back into the library to study.
Community Season 1 Episode 2 "Spanish 101"
Students in Spanish class team up to give presentations showing off their new vocabulary. Jeff is teamed up with Pierce despite his efforts to work with Britta. Shirley and Annie hold a silent protest to draw attention to the plight of journalists in Guatemala.
