E.C. Segar was born on December 8, 1894 and he created his nautical, spinach-eating hero in January 1929. Popeye first appeared as a supporting character in Segar’s “Thimble Theatre” comic strip. He became so popular that he eventually warranted his own comic strip. In 1980, Robin Williams portrayed Popeye and Shelley Duvall as Olive Oyl in Robert Altman’s film Popeye. It was Williams’ first big-budget feature film. Interestingly, the film will celebrate its United States’ 29th anniversary in four days; it was released to US theaters on December 12, 1980.

Miley Cyrus Tour Bus Crash Kills One! ABC News reports that a tour bus belonging to Miley Cyrus, overturned on Interstate 85 in Dinwiddie, Virginia—about 40 miles south of Richmond—around 8:15 a.m. Friday morning.

The 16-year-old "Hanna Montana" star Miley Cyrus was reportedly not on board during the crash. Virginia police have yet to disclose the identities of anyone else on board.

According to Miley Cyrus' Web site, Miley Cyrus is scheduled to perform Sunday in Greensboro, North Carolina for the Wonder World Tour 2009.

After more than 20 years at the top of the daytime talk show, Oprah Winfrey finally decided to leave the show for good, and will start a cable channel of her own.  .

From what I have seen/read from ABC news today, Tim Bennett who is the president of the Winfrey's Harpo production house, announced that Winfrey will step off the "Oprah" set in September of 2011. Tim Bennett also announced that Oprah Winfrey will confirm the news publicly live from Chicago today on her show. So we all better watch for it. Oprah Winfrey show is believed to end on September 9, 2011 on its 25th season. Tim Bennett also announced that the production house has still a number of shows in line. No more details whether a new talk show will come in place of Oprah Winfrey. After decades on Television, influencing millions of people on her talk show, I wonder if anyone can fill (The Queen of Talk) Oprah Winfrey's shoes.

Veteran actor Edward Woodward 79 [the subject of one of the world's greatest jokes.], who was known for his roles in The Callan, Wicker Man and The Equalizer, died today November 16, 2009.

The Edward Woodward had been suffering from various illnesses, including pneumonia, and died at the Royal Cornwall hospital in Truro, his agent said.

It said: “Universally loved and admired through his unforgettable roles in classic productions such as Breaker Morant, The Wicker Man, Callan, The Equalizer and many more, he was equally fine and courageous in real life, never losing his brave spirit and wonderful humour throughout his illness.

“He was further sustained by the love of his wife, Michele, children, Tim, Peter, Sarah and Emily, his grandchildren and numerous friends. His passing will leave a huge gap in many lives.”

Former Major League Baseball star Sammy Sosa's skin appears to have lightened considerably which led many to speculate what had happened. Sammy Sosa's photographs, accompanied by his wife Sonia Sosa taken at an event in Las Vegas last week revealed a surprising, comically light skin pigmentation on him. The Chicago Tribune speaks with Rebecca Polihronis, an acquaintance of Sosa, who claims that that "he is going through a rejuvenation process for his skin."

"He is going through a rejuvenation process for his skin," Polihronis said. "Women have it all of the time. He was surprised he came out looking so white. I thought it was a body double. Part of (the photo appearance) is just the lighting."

This new flower features allows you to adopt and gift perfect bouquets or "Perfect Bunches" from and to your Farmville neighbors. Adopted Farmville "Perfect Bunches" will remain on your Farmville Farm for 2 weeks as a decoration before they wither.

Here's how you can get Farmville Giftable Perfect Bouquets or Perfect Bunches:

• By harvesting Flower Crops on your farm
• Through one of your neighbors, adopting Flowers is much like adopting Farmville Lost Animals

You may store these Farmville Bouquets in Farmville Garden Shed. However this feature is only available to randomly selected users until Zynga opens it to everyone.
