Gathered from Ausiello files, here are the latest scoops for the TV Series Grey’s Anatomy.

Izzie and Alex will deal on a major blow at the end of next week’s episode [Invasion] which is also quoted as the best of the season. “BTW, even though I knew Katherine Heigl’s mini-hiatus was coming, Izzie’s exit was no less powerful or emotional. And man, Heigl knocks it out of the park.” – M. Ausiello

When asked when will Ellen Pompeo’s maternity leave from Grey’s Anatomy kick in on screen, Ausiello says that unlike Izzie, Meredith isn’t going anywhere — although we’ll begin to see less of her (literally and figuratively) after this week’s episode.

Title: Invasion
Airdate: October 15, 2009

Episode Description: [Spoiler Alert!]
The romance between Grey's Anatomy's Callie and Arizona will have to endure some not-so-divine intervention when Dr. Torres' father returns to Seattle -- with a "heavenly helper" in tow. Emmy Award winner Hector Elizondo will reprise his role as Mr. Torres in the fifth episode of the coming season, AOL TV has learned exclusively. Bringing about Dad's latest drop-by? His desire to make amends with the daughter he disowned last spring when he learned that she had taken a female lover. Though Callie and her father exchanged harsh words and parted ways back then -- forcing Callie to cede her status as a Trust Fund Baby -- Mr. Torres is now determined to heal the rift. So he's enlisted a bit of help from "above" ... yep, he believes the work of a priest can right past wrongs.

Aside from Katherine Heigl taking a break, Ellen Pompeo will be having a maternity leave so she will fade into the background as well, and Patrick Dempsey needs to shoot a movie later this season [I’m fine with no Izzie and Meredith drama, but no McDreamy? :-( ]. New doctors, administrators and nurses [Robert Baker, Jesse Williams, Zehetner) are expected to fill in the gaps. Producers are working to keep Meredith Grey in as many episodes as possible. The Seattle Grace-Mercy West merger storyline is part of a long-term plan hatched by producers and ABC execs to make Grey's Anatomy a viable going concern for years to come. The writers will have a large, endlessly expandable palette of characters and situations with which to work no matter who’s unavailable.

Katherine Heigl is taking a five-episode hiatus from the ABC drama to go shoot the Greg Berlanti-directed romantic comedy "Life as We Know It". Heigl's absence will be explained on screen, although it's not clear what prompts Izzie to take off. (Marital trouble with Alex? A trip home to see mom? A Denny sighting in the Caribbean?)

The show recently announced that it was adding three new doctors to its rotation: Nora Zehetner, Robert Baker, and Jesse Williams are joining the cast as recurring residents/ medical professionals.
